4 out of 5 stars Good screen, too blue   September 7, 2010
David M. Warren
In summary, the screen works, but it doesn't match the warm color temperature of the OEM screen.

Installation was relatively easy, just use ifixit's guide to taking the macbook apart. Be sure to remember where every screw came from, or else you'll hate putting it back together. The backlight power connector is quite a bit larger than than Apple's stock, I had to wedge some of the slack behind the screen to get it to fit into the inverter assembly, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

My biggest complaint is that the screen tint is blue, most likely due to the color temperature of the backlight, and there's not an easy way to fix it. My wife and I have the exact same computer, and you can definitely see a difference when placed right next to one another. The screen looks more vivid at times than the original, but the shade of blue is always present.

EDIT:
Just discovered that you can calibrate your monitor by going to:
Display preferences -> Color -> Calibrate button, then select the color temperature you want
Doing this made the monitor just like new, and works great.

5 out of 5 stars Good replacement screen   August 8, 2010

Just a short review since Amazon is prompting me to...My son's Macbook got a star crack which spread. Apple wanted too much to fix it so I did it myself. Very straightforward. Link to video to install came with the screen. He doesn't notice any difference from the factory original. So 1 month now and very satisfied....

This screen worked great to replace the original in my macbook and I think it might even be brighter then the original! great product!

1 out of 5 stars Terrible build quality.   July 1, 2010

I bought this screen because several people on message boards have said it is the best of the 4 different kinds used in the last generation Macbooks. I received it and everything seemed okay at first. However just one day after installing it, I started having problems with horizontal lines in the screen. I took it apart to check my connections and they were fine. When I put it back together it worked for a few minutes, then the entire screen filled with lines.

I've never seen a screen with build quality of such a low caliber. It broke when I didn't have it for a day. Sadly I can't return it, due to the fact that I smashed it in anger.

Also, I'm not sure if it was due to the fact that i was shipped the TLB1 and not the TLA1 screen.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Product -- However, Tricky Installation   June 19, 2010

If for some reason your screen is not working or is cracked (like mine was), this may be the best solution for you. The price is right as getting it replaced by professionals would easily cost hundreds of dollars. In particular, Apple will charge an obscenely high price to replace the LCD screen of a macbook.

One caveat: replacing the monitor is no easy feat; it will take a mini-screwdriver and plenty of patience. There are plenty of guides with pictures and directions on the Internet on how to do this. I personally recommend you to use the following: [...]

The pictures are great, but moreover it's the best directions (there's a couple of ways to replace the screen).
