Great monitor, great price June 26, 2010

I bought this monitor for my 79 year old mother (for mother's day). She needed a larger screen area because she was doing so much at once. She also wanted the smaller footprint of the lcd, since her computer area is not terribly deep.
The display is fantastic, the speakers have a good sound, and it was easy to set up. The only drawback, though, is that the buttons are annoying. The markings are "1" "<" ">" "2" on the side. The buttons are just behind the bezel on the right side, and the markings are Zaphod-favorites: black on black. We ended up marking them with a silver sharpie so she could find them. Other than that, it's great! I would definately recommend it.

I purchased two monitors even though only one of my old Gateway monitors went bad. Unfortunately, Gateway doesn't make what I used to have because it was a big mistake. The picture on these screens are all washed out and impossible to calibrate to something as nice as I'm used to seeing.
I always had good luck with ViewSonic in the past but the quality of these monitors are reflected in their cheap price.

I have now had this monitor for a week. It replaced an older View Sonic that failed after about 6 years. So far I am pleased with it. For just average computer use & viewing instant Netflix I have seen no problems. It did take me a couple of days to get use to the brightness. I have not seen any of the problems some of the other folks have posted.
For now I am completely satisfied.

Everything arrived and worked as advertised, but the sound quality leaves you wanting. The video is great as far as brightness, contrast and refresh, but the little speakers are a bit tinny.
